Coastal Bulletin

Write for us

Coastal Bulletin welcomes thoughtful pitches about shoreforms, harbours, coastal paths, shoreline materials, and the histories of coastal places. We are interested in clear, evergreen pieces that help a general reader notice or understand something specific.

What makes a good pitch

Send a short description of the central question, the reader takeaway, and why the subject suits Coastal Bulletin. A strong proposal has a clear angle rather than a broad theme, avoids repeating familiar generalities, and can be useful without statistics, specialist credentials, or first-hand testing.

What to include

Briefly outline the proposed structure and note any sources, images, or permissions the piece would depend on. Tell us whether the work has appeared elsewhere and flag any relevant commercial interests. Do not send confidential material or assume that a pitch has been accepted until we agree on it.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and making clear that your message is a pitch. Unsolicited full drafts are not required; a focused proposal is the best place to begin.
