Coastal Bulletin

About

Coastal Bulletin is for curious general readers who like to look twice at the places they visit. We explore how shorelines take shape, how harbour spaces are arranged, what coastal materials can reveal, and how paths carry people through a place. The aim is to make observation feel rewarding, not to turn a walk into an exam.

The subjects we follow

Our coverage ranges across shoreforms, harbour layouts, coastal paths, familiar shoreline materials, and the histories that have shaped these places. We favour subjects that remain interesting beyond a single season or news cycle, and explanations a reader can use on an ordinary visit.

A curious, grounded approach

We start with what can be noticed: a curve in a bay, a change in paving, a route that bends around a harbour, or a line of stones with a story to suggest. We distinguish observation from interpretation and leave room for uncertainty where a feature could have more than one explanation.

Made for looking closer

You do not need specialist equipment to read a shore with care. Our pieces offer context, comparisons, and questions to carry into a visit, while avoiding instructions that require technical expertise or local permissions to follow.
