Editorial policy
Coastal Bulletin aims to make coastal subjects clear, interesting, and honest about what is known. We check factual claims against appropriate sources, explain uncertainty, and correct mistakes when they are identified.
Accuracy and context
We review names, dates, definitions, and explanatory claims before publication, using sources suited to the subject. A confident-sounding interpretation is not treated as fact simply because it makes a neat story. When evidence is incomplete or a feature has several plausible explanations, we say so.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial choices are made for reader interest and relevance. Paid collaborations and partner material are clearly labelled where they appear, and commercial relationships do not guarantee favourable coverage or control over independent editorial decisions.
Corrections and illustrations
Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review correction requests and amend published material when warranted, making substantive changes clear. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; these are identified where they appear and are not presented as documentary photographs.
